Latest data from Beijing Tourism Administration shows that luxury hotels (star-level) in Beijing have reached the number of 700 by the end of 2006, which includes 37 five star hotels, 91 four star hotels, 228 three star hotels, 292 two star hotels and 52 one star hotels.
Comparing to the former number of 658 luxury hotels in year 2005, the increase mainly attributed to the upgrading of two star hotels and three star hotels. It is estimated that the number of luxury hotels (star-level) will reach 800 by providing 130,000 rooms totally by the year 2008.
During the 2008 Beijing Olympics Games, the estimated rate for five star hotels is USD 429 per room per night, USD 353 per room per night for standard room.
