    we are a family of 5, kids are 11, 10 & 7.
We are interested in purchasing train tickets from Beijing to Xian and have a few questions.
    1) are there discounts for children?
    2) what are the difference between hard and soft sleeper? Can you list the prices of children tickets for soft sleepers & hard sleepers
    Answer:
    1) There are some height criteria on children ticket on Chinese trains. According to the latest railway rule, children with the height under 120cm don't have to pay for rail trave, meanwhile, children with the height between 120cm-150cm enjoy the privilege to purchase discounted ticket for rail travel.
    2) Regarding the difference between hard sleeper and soft sleeper, there are 4 soft sleepers in 1 cabin, while there are 6 hard sleepers in 1 cabin, therefore, the size of soft sleepers is bigger than that of soft sleepers. Soft sleepers are more spacious and more enjoyable. On most Chinese trains, the soft sleeper is 70cm in width and 200cm in length, however hard sleeper is 60cm in width.
Children ticket price for bottom soft sleeper is Renminbi 299 Yuan and children ticket price for upper soft sleeper is Renminbi 282 Yuan on Beijing-Xi'an train.

I want to buy some train tickets for travelling from Beijing to Xian then return from Xian to Beijing . My travel plans are as follows.
Leave Beijing to go to Xian approximately 7pm 22nd February 2012.
Leave Xian to return to Beijing approximately 7pm on 25th February 2012.

    1st group is 2 adults.
    2nd group is 2 adults + 1 child-7 years old.
Your assistance in this matter would be greatly appreciated.
    Kind regards
    Answer:

  3. Question:
    Hello,
Two of my friends and I are planning to go to Xian on March 9 to 11 and we have some questions regarding the train transportation:
    1. Does a hard sleeper carriage have a private bath? If no, how about a public one?
    2. Is the fare table above updated? Which is the best train to take?
    3. Where and how do we reserve tickets?
    Thanks!
    Answer:
    Let me answer your questions:
    1. Neither hard sleeper carriage nor soft sleeper carriage has bath room, that means, it's not possible to take a bath on any kind of China train including the deluxe train. There is a toilet room each carriage.
    2. Yep, what you see here is the latest train timetable and ticket price. It depends on your schedule, we do think that the best train should be that matches with your schedule exactly. Actually, there is no big difference between K train, T train and Z train in hardware facilities besides speed.
