Beijing Transportation by Air, Train, Taxi, Tricycle and Biycle
Beijing Capital International Airport
Beijing Capital International Airport situates in Beijing's northeastern part-Shunyi district, with 30 kilometers to the downtown. The new opening of airport terminal building consolidated Beijing's position as an airport transportation hub.
The airport shuttle buses can take you to such places as Xidan Aviation Hall, the Art Museum, Beijing Railway Station, Gongzhufen etc. The airport express charge is 10 Yuan for taxi, it varies with the car brand and grade.
Beijing Train Transportation
Beijing is one of the most important railway hubs of China( another one is Zhengzhou).
Beijing Railway Station locates near Jianguomen, you can reach there either by subway or by bus. Trains from Beijing Railway Station are mainly launched for the Northeast China, East China etc. So if you want to go to such places as Shanghai, Jiangsu(Nanjing) Zhejiang(hangzhou), Heilongjiang(Haerbin), Jilin(Changchun), Liaoning(Shenyang), Inner Mongolia, you'd better depart from Beijing Railway Station.
Beijing Western Railway Station locates near Lianhuachi. Trains from Beijing Western Railway Station are mainly launched for the Central China( Henan, Hubei, Hunan, Anhui), the South China( Jiangxi, Fujian, Guangxi, Guangdong, Shenzhen), the West China( Tibet, Sichuan, Shanxi, Shan'xi, Gansu, Qinghai and etc)
Beijing Southern Railway Station is under re-construction, trains launched from here are mostly slowly trains. Beijing Northern Railway Station is also called as Xizhimen Railway Station, trains from here are mainly suburban trains as well as those short distance trains to the Inner Mongolian and Hebei Province.
Tourism special train
Tourism special trains are launched for tourist attractions in the outskirt areas from Beijing' s railway stations everyday.
You can buy the picnic travel ticket from Beijing Railway Station, Beijing Northern Railway Station, Beijing Southern Railway Station, Beijing Railway International Travel Agency and etc.
There are green tunnels in each stop; you can buy the train tickets even after you have taken on the train.
For group tourists with more than 10 people, they can book group railway tickets by dialing the telephone number 010-65636733 three to ten days before the trip starts.
You can even buy the tickets for tourist attractions from the designed railway stations. With these tourist attraction tickets, you can take the tourist special train launched for the corresponding tourist attraction free of charge
Taxi
If you get to Beijing by the train, you can find taxi stations in front of its railway stations. The starting price for Beijing taxi(Santana) is 10 Yuan (within 3 kilometers). Beijing taxi price list will be available soon!
Human-powered Tricycles
Human-powered tricycles are crowed in Beijing downtowns as well as in those hot tourist attractions. As the Beijing Hutong is usually very narrow for cars to pass through, most of the visitors would choose to take tricycles for the Hutong sightseeing. You are noted that the fares for human-powered tricycles are higher than taxi in most occasions.
Bicycle
Many hotels in Beijing would provide bicycle rental service with a daily fare of 20-30 Yuan. After depositing some money to the hotel, you can feel free to ride the bicycle to travel around the city. You will find it is wonderful to travling around all kinds of Hutongs and streets. This way, you can join yourself into the Beijing locals and feel the real pulse of the city.
Cruise
Beijing has three cruise lines:
1. Kunyu Cruise Line with the length of ten kilometers. From Bayi Lake in the east to the Summer Palace in the west part of Beijing.
2. Chang He Line with the length of nine kilometers: from the Summer Palace to Beizhan Hou Hu.
3. Nanhu Line with the length of twenty six kilometers: from the China Millennium Monument to Gaobei Dian Reservior.
Highways and expresses from Beijing
There are 12 state-level highways from Beijing to such cities as Shenyang, Tianjin, Haerbin, Guangzhou, Zhuhai, Nanjing, Fuzhou, Kunming. Expresses launched from Beijing include Badaling express, the Capital Airport Express, Jingshen express, Jingjitang express, Jingshi express, Jiangzhang express.
Beijing has 12 long distance bus stations like Liuliqiao bus station, Xizhimen bus station, Zhaogongkou bus station and etc.
